About Football for Good

Academy football (soccer) across Africa is often disconnected from the people and communities it’s claiming to serve, while being caught up in a variety of negative allegations ranging from child abuse to illegal player trafficking to outright fraud.

On a global scale, the game of football is thriving, yet in many parts of Africa it is still a missed opportunity. Academy football shouldn’t be taking advantage of communities; it can, and should be, leaving a legacy.

Football for Good is a non-profit being developed by the founders of the Steve Nash Foundation and Athletes for Africa, that goes well beyond charity. Football for Good has two clear aims:

1. To develop world-class youth football (soccer) academies that are sustainable, community-centered social businesses in regions that have been ravaged by war.

2. To be a champion of human rights and child protection, and a committed global advocate for African players, families and their communities.

Academy Football. Opportunity. Community. Peace. That is Football for Good.
